Exploring Key Value Added Operations for Injection Molded Projects

Injection molding services are a cost-effective way to create a high volume of parts quickly. While the manufacturing method itself follows a standard set of operations and creates many uniform parts, there are ways to make your components stand out from the crowd.

Value added operations with injection molding projects offer numerous ways to make your parts stand out from the competition and give you a unique edge. There are key operations that can enhance your parts’ look, performance, durability, and more.

Read more from Agape Plastics as we explore key value added operations that you can use on your next injection molded project.

Post-Mold Assembly Operations

Often, injection molding projects will require two pieces to be combined together or another variation of assembly. While customers are able to do this themselves for some components, expertly trained technicians perform these services daily and can expedite this process.

Agape Plastics offers a range of assembly services, including weather strips, various offline/online assembly processes, kit assembly, snap-fit assembly, foam assembly, U-clip, push nut, and grommet assembly, as well as paper barcode or 2D barcode labeling of parts, wire harnesses, and springs.

Plastic Welding

Plastic welding could include sonic welding or heat-staking. Sonic welding utilizes high-frequency sonic vibrations to create frictional heat between the parts being joined. Whereas heat-staking is often used for larger parts, and uses both heat and pressure to soften a specific area of the plastic enough to be remolded into a new shape or profile that forms over or around the connecting part.

Error-Proofing Equipment Design and Build

Agape Plastics uses specialized equipment for assembling components to prevent misassembled products. By implementing fail-safes in the fixture, tooling, programming, and machining processes, errors can be quickly identified and defective parts removed from the process before they cause greater problems down the line.

In-House Tool Rooms

Tool room services are offered by nearly every injection molding company. But what separates good manufacturers from great is the ability to create fast turnarounds and keep repairs in-house to drive down costs.

In-House CMM

Agape Plastics uses a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to assess the dimensional accuracy and geometric characteristics that meet specified tolerances and quality standards. Parts are measured both pre- and post-production for quality control and testing, and to prevent components that are out of tolerance.
